Yes, I do. I went to Maharshi Shivbratlal Intermediate School in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh. Now, I’m studying commerce at Modern College in Class XI.
2) Why did you come here?
We were farmers, but due to the division of land among family members, we were eventually left with nothing. So I decided to move to a city in order to earn for my family.
3) Where do you stay?
I live in Shivaji Nagar with my father and brother. We have a small but comfortable place. It is near my college. I attend lectures in the morning, come home, have lunch. Then I start selling socks and get home by 10 pm. My brother goes to school too.
4) Where is your mother?
She is in Bhadohi with a younger brother and two sisters. We go to our village once on Holi, once on Diwali.
5) How much do you earn?
I make a profit of Rs 300-350 a day. But the income is not fixed. We have to send a minimum of Rs 5,000 to the village every month. So, we divide the stock among us and sell them at different places in the city.
6) Aren’t you worried about your friends seeing you selling socks?
No, I am proud of what I do. Why should I be worried? In fact, I work really hard in order to study. My friends will be proud of me.
7) What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a lawyer. My dream is to wear the white knot and take up cases of poor people.
Many people just read stories like this and get inspired but we request you to not bargain when you purchase some thing from streets or small vendors help them if you can.
Because few bucks won't matter to us but can make a great difference for them.
Party less for one Saturday in a month and try to donate or help people it feel's good.
