2008 Ahmedabad serial blast criminal - The criminal who was wanted since the year 2008 for the Ahmedabad serial bomb blast has been arrested from Belgam in Karnataka.
This happened as they received a tip off from some of their informers, the ATS officials nabbed Nasir Rangrez (38), an autorickshaw driver, from his residence at Khade Bazar road in Belgam and brought him to Ahmedabad on Monday morning, ATS said in a statement.
The criminal was playing a big role in spreading the terrorism in Gujarat and is also said to be part of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
Before carrying out the 2008 Ahmedabad serial blast he and his associates recruited Muslim men to take revenge of the riots and also he provided them with training at Pavagadh in Gujrath.
During these training sessions, these accused hatched the conspiracy to carry out blasts in Ahmedabad. These accused were led by IM founders Safdar Nagori and Yasin Bhatkal.
It is also said that Rangrez never came to Ahmedabad to plant bombs and planting was carried by some other persons he may be associated with.
The bomb planting was very much planned as within 70 minutes as many as 20 bomb blasts rocked the whole city in July 2008.
This was the biggest terror attack happened in Gujrat where 56 were killed and more than 200 people were injured.
Terror outfit Indian Mujahideen took responsibility for the blasts at that time said the statement.
