Indigo flights with passengers on board had a near call as both the aircraft came into close proximity facing each other in mid-air.


In a statement, the airline confirmed that Mumbai-Guwahati flight 6E-813 experienced turbulence due to the ongoing monsoons and climbed about 300 feet. At the same time, another flight 6E-136 crossed it.

TCAS is onboard equipment that advises pilots about the traffic in the proximity of the aircraft and also instructs pilots the avoidance action (Resolution Advisory) to maintain the desired separation between the aircraft.


This happens very rarely and the situation is called "Clear Air Turbulence", this cannot be detected by the weather radar.


The crew and the passengers were physically shaken by the incident after the aircraft landed all the passengers were given medical assistance.

Four passengers complained of giddiness and two cabin crew needed first aid 

It is also said that the pilot immediately informed the traffic control about the situation on board.
