Open fire in Assam kokrajhar town market where 13 people were killed and nearly 20 injured.
Terrorist in army uniform open fired at a crowded market, one of the terrorists also threw a grenade said a witness.
The incident took place around 220 km from Guwahati, reports says security forces have killed one terrorist but the rest managed to escape.
"At least three-four militants attacked the marketplace. Grenades were thrown...some militants are on the run," police chief Mukesh Sahay said.
The area nearby the market was cleared immediately as security forces wanted to conduct a search for the terrorist in the nearby buildings.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has briefed Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the attack.
Kokrajhar is the base for the Bodoland Territorial Council; the police suspect the militants were rebels of the outlawed National Democratic Front of Bodoland, which has been fighting for a separate homeland for the region's ethnic Bodo people.
The police fear that the death toll of this attack may increase as many are seriously injured.
All the victims are admitted to the nearby hospital and treatment is being started.
Sonowal has announced an Ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to next of kin of people who died and Rs 1 lakh for whom are injured in the Open fire in Assam kokrajhar town market.
Many ministers have also expressed their condolence and twitted the same.
Meanwhile, the army has being called at the spot to analyse the situation and area is being evacuated totally.
